Join John Hunter Children’s Hospital through our Supported Introduction to Paediatrics (SIP) Program and build your confidence, skills and experience in paediatric care. Work alongside experienced teams in a leading tertiary hospital, caring for children and families across medical, surgical, trauma and neonatal services.

No previous paediatric experience required — just your passion to learn, grow and make a difference. Applicants must have completed at least a new graduate year in nursing.

The SIP Program provides Registered Nurses with a supportive pathway into paediatric nursing, helping you build clinical skills, confidence and experience while caring for children and their families.

As a Participant, You Will

- Rotate through two clinical areas within John Hunter Children’s Hospital.
- Develop paediatric nursing skills and clinical confidence.
- Gain experience caring for neonates, infants, children and adolescents.
- Access structured orientation, study days and ongoing support.
- Work with the Paediatric Nursing Education Team to achieve your goals.
- Build experience in a supportive, collaborative team environment.

Essential Requirements

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Completion of at least a new graduate year in nursing.
