Job Description

John Sugden Swim School has been established since 1995. We are a unique and progressive organisation looking out for the development of the individual in a very supportive swimming community. In this educational setting its the swimmer first but the teachers and staff make this happen! We teach swimming to children aged 3-16 yrs using private school pools. As well, we have various Junior swim groups that require technical development and advanced coaching inclusive of personal aquatic survival skills. We wouldn't have a community of swimmers and parents to be so appreciative of without the wonderful teachers and coaches involved over the many years. Its now time to pass the baton to a recent swim teacher so they can develop into a very important part of this organisation. Please Note: must be able to travel between Balwyn and Glen Waverley venues

Qualifications & experience

n

No experience or qualifications needed just a desire and motivation to teach

n

Australian work rights are required for this position

n

Tasks & responsibilities

n

PAID 140 hrs (8-12 hrs/wk, over approx 12-14 wks) JSSS Teacher Traineeship Qualifying as Level 1 Swim Teacher & potential development to Level 3

n

PAID Assessment writing 4 times per year (once per term)

n

PAID On-going Staff Training required (once per term)

n





Commitment to the JSSS Teacher Training learning how to teach safety, personal survival skills & all 4 strokes

n

Enjoy being IN and UNDER water Teaching Children

n

Basic swimming ability is required for candidates applying to this position

n

Candidates must be able to swim 25m continuously to meet the basic swimming ability requirement

n

Working with Children Check is required for this role

n

Working with Children Check can be obtained after receiving a job offer

n

Enjoy playful communication with Children

n

Interact with Parents where applicable

n

Minimum 3 Teaching Shifts per week with Saturday morning included (each shift approx 2-4 hrs)

n

Willingness for long-term commitment (3 or more years)

n

Adults teaching who are parents will receive discounts on swim lessons for their children

n

Paid Traineeship for Teacher Training starts immediately (enquire for training rate, depends on experience & age)

n

There is no maximum age limit for applicants to this swim teacher position

n

Paid Traineeship is followed with above Level 1 Award Rate, once qualified

n

Cost of Swim Teacher Industry Qualification will be re-imbursed once 6 months employment is completed

n

Opportunity to Increase pay rate over time with In-House Specialist Teacher Training upto Level 3
