Clinical Academic - Senior Lecturer - School of Medicine

Workthat matters

The School of Medicine provides an innovative and collaborative research and teaching environment. We are seeking to appoint multiple part-time Senior Lecturers in the Department of Paediatrics as a joint appointment with the Women's & Children's Health Network (WCHN), who will participate in the delivery of clinical services in one of the following specialties: gastroenterology, renal medicine or general paediatrics.

Based at the Women's & Children's Hospital, the successful appointees will provide specialist clinical care, supervise junior medical staff and contribute to the delivery of high-quality inpatient and outpatient services. Participation in service requirements, including after-hours on-call rosters, may be required.

As Senior Lecturers, appointees will provide leadership in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, student supervision, curriculum development and assessment activities within the School of Medicine. They will contribute to academic leadership across the Discipline of Paediatrics and support the strategic goals of the School, College and University.

The role offers a unique prospect to lead and grow a research profile in paediatrics through high-quality publications, supervision of Higher Degree by Research candidates, competitive grant funding applications and the development of local, national and international collaborations. Appointees will also contribute to policy development, clinical guideline advancement and initiatives that promote teaching, research and health equity outcomes.

Key Responsibilities





- Provide leadership in paediatric teaching, curriculum development and student supervision.
- Lead and contribute to impactful paediatric research, publications and grant applications.
- Supervise HDR candidates and support the development of emerging clinician-researchers.
- Deliver specialist clinical services and supervise junior medical staff.
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Foster collaborations across Adelaide University, WCHN and external stakeholders.

The team

The appointee will report to the Academic Lead WCHN Precinct, as the nominee of the Dean of Medicine, School of Medicine, College of Health for teaching and research related activities, and to the Head of Clinical Unit, WCHN for clinical duties.

Experience

- Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate and post-graduate students in a clinical and academic setting
- Demonstrated experience in conducting and publishing high quality research in a recognised area of Paediatrics
- Engaging in medical teaching programs

Women’s and Children’s Health Network:

- Clinical Delivery
- Clinical Leadership
- Clinical Administration
- Registered as a medical practitioner and specialist paediatrician with AHPRA
- FRACP (or equivalent)
- Track record in research and teaching commensurate with level
- Higher research degree (e.g; MD or PhD), or equivalent body of work

Desired Criteria

- Experience in provision of paediatric care in a tertiary referral centre
