About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Manager to join Brookies Rural Traders in Capalaba, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage our nursery operations. As Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our nursery business, including staff management, plant inventory, customer service, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the facility. This role is pivotal to our success and growth within the retail and consumer products sector, particularly in the horticultural retail space.

Key responsibilities

- Manage and supervise nursery staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering plants, stock rotation, and maintaining optimal stock levels
- Ensure all plants are properly maintained, watered, and displayed to maximise sales appeal and customer satisfaction
- Deliver exceptional customer service and manage customer relationships to build loyalty and encourage repeat business
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets
- Maintain health and safety standards across the nursery facility, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
- Develop and implement promotional activities and marketing initiatives to drive customer engagement
- Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and financial transactions
- Liaise with suppliers and manage vendor relationships to ensure quality products and competitive pricing

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Nursery Manager or in a similar horticultural retail management role
- Strong knowledge of plants, horticulture, and gardening products
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff




- Proven track record in achieving sales targets and driving business growth
- Sound financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to build positive customer relationships
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Computer literacy and experience with retail management systems and point-of-sale software
- Physical fitness and willingness to perform hands-on work when required
- Relevant qualifications in horticulture, retail management, or business administration would be advantageous
