We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Sales Estimator to join our residential building team.

This is a key role for someone with 10+ years' experience in the building industry who understands the complete new home building process — from sales and preliminary design through estimating, detailed quoting, contracts and handover to construction.

This is not simply a desktop estimating role. We are looking for someone with strong practical construction knowledge who can review plans, understand how a home will actually be built, accurately determine what needs to be allowed for, and identify potential costing, design and construction issues before they reach site.

A carpentry background is highly regarded.

The successful candidate will work closely with our sales, drafting, suppliers, trades and construction teams to ensure every home is accurately priced, properly documented and ready for construction.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Prepare detailed and accurate sales estimates, quotations and costings
n
- Obtain, review and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations
n
- Check quote scopes, inclusions and exclusions and identify missing costs,



discrepancies and incorrect allowances
n
- Accurately price client changes, upgrades, selections and variations
n
- Manage jobs throughout the preliminary/pre-construction stage
n
- Review preliminary plans, working drawings, specifications and engineering documentation
n
- Interpret site information, contour surveys, soil tests and engineering requirements
n
- Identify site-specific requirements and associated construction costs
n
- Review plans for buildability, accuracy and potential construction issues
n
- Understand the cost and construction implications of design changes
n
- Liaise with suppliers and trades to clarify scope and obtain accurate and competitive pricing
n
- Work closely with clients and our sales team throughout the preliminary process
n
- Ensure plans, specifications, selections and pricing all align prior to contract
n
- Prepare jobs for a smooth transition from sales and preliminaries into construction
n
- Maintain accurate job information and documentation using construction/project management software
n
- Work confidently across digital estimating, quoting, project management and documentation systems
n
- Use and develop proficiency in Homei, our in-house drafting system

About You

n

To be successful in this role, you will have:

n

n
- Minimum 10+ years' experience in the residential building/construction industry
n
- Extensive residential estimating and quoting experience
n
- Strong quoting knowledge – essential
n
- Proven experience in the preliminary/pre-construction stage
n
- Strong understanding of the complete sales-to-contract and construction process
n
- Excellent residential construction knowledge – essential
n
- Carpentry or trade background highly regarded
n




- Strong practical understanding of how a home is built from the ground up
n
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications and engineering documentation
n
- Ability to identify buildability, costing and construction issues before they reach site
n
- Strong sales knowledge and confidence communicating with clients
n
- Experience or robust knowledge in residential design and drafting
n
- Proven experience using construction/project management software
n
- Strong experience working with digital estimating, quoting and job management systems
n
- Excellent computer and technology skills
n
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and internal systems
n
- Confidence working with digital plans, specifications, supplier quotes, variations and job documentation
n
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
n
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
n
- Ability to manage multiple jobs at various stages of the building process
n

The Person We're Looking For

n

We are looking for an experienced building professional who can bring together sales, estimating, quoting, preliminaries, drafting, technology and practical construction knowledge.

n

You should be someone who can look at a plan, specification or quotation and quickly recognise when something doesn't look right, something has been missed or something may not work on site.

n

You will be comfortable communicating with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams, while also having the technical knowledge to confidently work through the details of a residential build.

n

Most importantly, you will understand that accurate estimating and thorough preliminaries are critical to a successful build. Getting the details right before construction starts is a major part of this role.

n
