Job Description
We're looking for a hands-on Lead Technical Engineer to help develop and maintain PetSure's range of in-house developed technology assets. This role assumes a high degree of autonomy and future focus, applying critical thinking and strategic skills to drive continuous improvement and best practice against a modernised technology landscape.

What You'll Do:
n
n
- Champion engineering quality and AI adoption across the entire SDLC lifecycle.
n
- Provide technical leadership and guidance, determining appropriate tools, frameworks and methodologies.
n
- Govern the quality of code, including robust and secure coding standards, adequate test coverage, documentation and automated code checking.
n
- Write code in a range of software languages, ensuring it is fit for purpose, secure, performant, maintainable, testable and well documented.
n
- Actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including agile ceremonies and supporting the completion of sprint goals.
n
- Commit code via Git, assist in code reviews, CI/CD activities and production releases, and help troubleshoot issues that arise in production.
n
- Partner with the Product Owner to ensure solutions align with the needs and expectations of end users, turning customer needs into workable technical outcomes.
n
- Build strong relationships and work collaboratively across all business units and external partners, championing best practice in reviews, quality and documentation across Squads and Chapters.
n
- Maintain and update personal knowledge and development to stay current with platform changes, system updates and emerging technologies.
n
n
What You'll Bring:
n
n
- Solid coding skills across a range of modern coding languages, with a robust understanding of computers and an affinity for technology.
n
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with extensive documentation and technical writing experience.
n
- Excellent logical thinking and advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver independently and take ownership.
n
- Recent commercial experience building software as part of a team, with demonstrable hands-on coding skills.
n
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with proven leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and continuous improvement capabilities.
n
- Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, yet rewarding environment, committed to achieving deadlines and keeping promises.
n
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent commercial experience, with exposure to React and TypeScript, .NET, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Sentry, OpenTelemetry, LaunchDarkly, Auth0 and Kontent.ai highly regarded.
