About the Role:
As a key member of the Contracts & Procurement team, reporting to the Procurement & Contracts Manager, this role is responsible for the development, negotiation, and administration of contracts for goods and services across the Group. Working closely with operational, finance, legal, and corporate stakeholders, you will ensure our contractual arrangements deliver value, allocate risk appropriately, and maintain strong governance and compliance practices.
The role plays an integral part in tendering and contract formation, post-award contract administration, variation and claims management, and contractor performance management across key mining services, plant hire, and supply agreements. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of contract templates, registers, systems,
and reporting capability as the business grows. The position is preferably based in our Brisbane CBD office, with site-based arrangements at Mt Carbine considered for the right candidate, and will involve periodic travel to our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, issue, and manage EOI and tender processes, including evaluation plans, commercial evaluations, clarifications, and award recommendations
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for mining services, plant hire, supply, and consultancy engagements using company standard terms
Administer contracts post-award, including variations, claims, extensions of time, dayworks reconciliation, and rates reviews
Maintain the Group contracts register, including key dates, renewals, expiries, options, securities, and bank guarantees
Monitor contractor compliance with insurance, security, and regulatory requirements throughout the contract lifecycle
Conduct contractor and supplier performance reviews against contract KPIs and manage remediation actions
Support commercial negotiations for major equipment purchases and hire-to-buy arrangements
Identify, assess, and manage commercial and contractual risk, and advise stakeholders on contractual entitlements and obligations
Support dispute avoidance and resolution, including preparation of commercial correspondence and responses to claims
Ensure contracting activity complies with company policies, delegations of authority, and probity and governance requirements
Develop and continuously improve standard contract templates, special conditions, and contracting procedures
Contribute to contract reporting,
including commitments, expiries, and supplier performance for management reporting
Key Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated experience in contracts administration or contract management within a mining, resources, construction, or heavy industrial workplace.
Degree qualified in business, commerce, law, engineering, or a related discipline highly regarded, or equivalent industry experience.
Sound working knowledge of contract law principles and common contracting frameworks (including the AS 4000 suite and mining services agreements), with strong drafting and negotiation skills.
Strong systems capability, with SAP experience preferred or demonstrated proficiency in a similar ERP or contract management system, and advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
Excellent communication, attention to detail, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation.
