About the Role

n

We are seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operational management of VDS.

n

Working closely with the Directors, you will translate agreed strategic priorities into effective action and provide leadership across our people, systems and operations.

n

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can bring structure, clarity and accountability, while fostering a supportive and psychologically safe workplace.

n

You will have autonomy to manage day-to-day operations within an agreed Delegation of Authority and will play an important role in shaping the next stage of VDS's growth.

Key responsibilities

- Lead, develop and support a high-performing team.

- Establish clear expectations, accountability and role clarity.
n
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management and professional development.
n
- Build a positive, respectful and psychologically safe workplace culture.
n
- Confidently manage challenging people and performance matters.

Operations & Business Performance

n

n
- Lead day-to-day clinic operations, rostering and resource planning.
n
- Develop and improve systems, processes and workflows.
n
- Monitor operational KPIs and provide business reporting to the Directors.
n
- Support budget management, purchasing, payroll and supplier relationships.
n
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and financial performance.
n

Client Experience & Business Development

n

n




- Strengthen relationships with clients and referring veterinarians.
n
- Monitor and improve the client experience.
n
- Coordinate agreed marketing and business development initiatives.
n
- Identify opportunities to improve referral conversion, client retention and practice growth.
n

n

WHS & Compliance

n

n
- Maintain effective WHS systems and processes.
n
- Support staff safety and training.
n
- Ensure operational practices meet relevant legislative requirements.
n

n

About You

n

We are looking for an experienced manager who combines strong people leadership with operational and commercial capability.

n

You will have:

n

n
- Demonstrated experience as a Practice Manager, Operations Manager or in a comparable senior management role.
n
- Veterinary industry experience is highly desirable.
n
- Proven experience leading and developing teams.
n
- Strong emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
n
- Confidence setting expectations, providing feedback and addressing performance issues.
n
- Experience leading teams through growth and change.
n
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
n
- Experience implementing HR processes and managing the employee lifecycle.
n
- Financial and commercial awareness, with experience using KPIs and business data to drive improvement.
n
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work autonomously.
n
