An established Federal Government agency is seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a high-profile technology workplace supporting critical, enterprise-scale applications.
This is a hands-on development role suited to someone with strong experience across Java / Java EE, enterprise application development, system enhancements, upgrades and production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing, developing and maintaining robust, scalable enterprise applications using Java and Java EE
- Enhancing and improving existing software platforms in line with business and technical requirements
- Undertaking software upgrades, application enhancements and remediation
- Investigating and resolving complex application and production issues
- Testing and validating application changes to ensure reliable outcomes
- Reviewing and improving existing code to increase efficiency, performance and maintainability
- Producing high‑quality technical and solution documentation
- Working collaboratively with developers,
technical teams and business stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring less experienced developers
- Contributing to project reporting, technical governance and delivery planning
- Operating effectively within structured security, legislative and governance frameworks
About You
- Experience maintaining and enhancing complex, business‑critical applications
- Strong experience with software version upgrades and application modernisation
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‑solving capability
- Experience delivering development outcomes within agreed timelines and priorities
- Strong technical documentation skills
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior developers
- Previous experience within Federal Government, Defence, financial services or another highly regulated environment will be highly regarded
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline
