We're partnering with a fast-growing digital bank that is significantly expanding its technology capability and building out a new Sydney engineering team.

This is a genuinely hands-on Lead Software Engineer role for someone who wants to stay close to the code while also helping shape/hire the team, build engineering standards and guide technical direction.

You'll be working directly with the CTO and taking ownership of software that supports new products, customer growth and a broader digital transformation.

What you'll be doing

n

- Lead a small team while remaining around 50–75% hands-on
n
- Build and deliver across C#, .NET, React and Azure
n
- Own features from design through to production
n
- Help shape engineering standards and ways of working
n
- Work directly with senior technology and business stakeholders
n
- Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making
n
- Help hire and develop additional engineers as the Sydney team grows
n
- Build scalable APIs and services supporting a growing digital platform
n

What we're looking for

n

n
- Strong commercial C# / .NET experience
n
- React experience
n
- Azure or another major cloud platform
n
- Experience with APIs, distributed systems and modern engineering practices
n
- CI/CD, automated testing and Infrastructure as Code exposure
n
- Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder skills
n
- Someone who can think independently and make pragmatic technical decisions
n

n

Financial services experience is practical but not essential.

n

This will suit someone who enjoys smaller, high-quality engineering teams where you can have genuine ownership and influence, rather than operating as one engineer within a very large technology function.

n

Salary $200,000 - $220,000 plus super - hybrid working.
