BinSmart is a growing waste management business operating across multiple sites, including Campbellfield and Hastings. As part of the wider Smart Group, we pride ourselves on operational excellence, safety, and building a strong, capable workforce that keeps our communities and industry moving.
About the role
We're looking for an experienced HR Manager to join us on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with strong potential to transition to a permanent full-time role. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a standalone, hands‑on role covering the full employee lifecycle across our Campbellfield and Hastings operations. You'll be the go‑to person for all things people‑related, working closely with site leaders to support a diverse, blue‑collar and office‑based workforce.
Key responsibilities
Manage end‑to‑end recruitment across both sites, including job ads, screening, interviews, and onboarding
Draft and manage employment contracts, letters, and HR documentation
Provide expert advice on employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations
Manage separations (resignations, redundancies, terminations) in line with the Fair Work Act 2009, NES, and the Waste Management Award 2020 (MA000043)
Ensure compliance with award obligations, including final pay timing and entitlement calculations
Partner with payroll on employment changes affecting pay
Support workforce planning, restructures,
and organisational change initiatives
Champion a positive, safety‑first workplace culture across both sites
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous documentation and file notes for all employee relations matters
Provide practical HR guidance and coaching to site leaders and supervisors
About you
Proven experience as an HR Manager or senior HR Advisor, ideally in a standalone or multi‑site role
Solid working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, NES, and Contemporary Awards (Waste Management Award experience highly regarded)
Experience managing the full spectrum of employee relations matters, including terminations and redundancies
Comfortable operating autonomously and reporting directly to senior leadership
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across blue‑collar and corporate teams
Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (desirable)
A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel between Campbellfield and Hastings sites
WHY JOIN BINSMART?
- Autonomous, high‑impact standalone role
- Be part of a growing, dynamic business within the wider Smart Group
- Salary package $80,000 - $100,000 (dependent on experience)
- Genuine pathway to permanent full‑time employment beyond the initial 6‑month term
- Supportive leadership team and genuine opportunity to shape HR practice across the group
