About the Role

n

Our Mt Kelly Operations (Lady Annie mine), located approximately 120km north-northwest of Mount Isa, has been an operational copper mine for over 10 years. We are currently seeking skilled and safety-focused Production Pit Technician to join our team and contribute to the growing success of our processing operations.

What You'll Do

n

Reporting to the Mine Geologist, theProduction Pit Technicianperforms a hands-on role to support day to day grade control and mine production activities within multiple Austral Resources open cut assets.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Follow the supervision and guidance of Technical Services Manager, Geologists, Engineers and Surveyors to carry out site support tasks in an efficient and safe manner.
n
- Perform field-based geological sampling and basic logging in active mining pits.
n
- Mark up ore shapes in the pit.
n
- Sample dispatch and reporting.
n
- Ensure accurate and timely collection and entry of geological data into company registers and spreadsheets.
n
- Keep vehicles and work areas tidy and efficiently organised for operational activities.
n




- Manage and maintain sampling equipment and materials.
n
- Pre-emptively communicate to prepare upcoming work areas for activities.
n

- Ability to operate to safety standards set and mitigate risk
n
- Good written and oral communication skills
n
- Good comprehension skills to follow written SOP's and verbal instruction.
n
- Strong attention to detail and meticulous data recording habits.
n
- Proactive team player with a positive, can-do attitude
n
- Able to work in a small team in a remote area
n
- Possess basic computer skills and ability to use basic Microsoft Office software
n
- Full working rights in Australia
n
- The ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol test
n
- Highly regarded but not essential:n n
- Familiar with safe operating practises in mining
n
- Previous experience in a similar role within mining or exploration
n
- Familiarity or experience with sampling, sample QAQC and despatch
n
- Familiarity with basic core mark-up, core cutting etc
n
- A first aid certificate
n
- Licenced and experience operating a forklift
n
