This is a casual backfill opportunity for an immediate start, expected to run for approximately 6 weeks with the potential for extension depending on business needs. For the right person, there may also be an opportunity to transition into a full-time role following the backfill period.

The successful candidate can expect to be rostered up to 38 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

About the Company

Our client is a well-established specialist practice based in Inner South Canberra.

They are seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist who has substantial medical reception experience and can quickly take responsibility for the day-to-day reception and administrative functions of a busy specialist practice.
n
Key responsibilities
n
n
- Answering telephone calls, emails and patient enquiries promptly and professionally
n
- Welcoming patients and providing calm, respectful and helpful assistance
n
- Managing appointments, cancellations, waiting lists and clinicians' schedules
n
- Processing Medicare and private billings, collecting payments and issuing invoices and receipts
n
- Maintaining accurate patient demographic, referral and appointment information
n
- Receiving and processing referrals and other clinical correspondence
n
- Liaising professionally with patients,
general practitioners and other healthcare providers
n
- Managing sensitive and confidential information appropriately
n
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic
n
- Maintaining an organised, tidy and presentable reception area
n

About you
n
n
- Availability Monday to Friday between 8.30am - 5pm
n
- 3+ years' experience as a medical receptionist, preferably within a specialist medical practice
n
- Experience with medical practice-management software and electronic patient records
n
- Practical knowledge of Medicare billing, referrals and private patient accounts
n
- The ability to become productive quickly and perform the role with minimal supervision
n
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
n
- A professional, calm and compassionate manner when assisting patients
n
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
n
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
n
- The ability to manage competing priorities and interruptions in a busy reception workplace
n
- Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office
n
- The ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and professional boundaries
n
- Reliability, initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
n
- Experience using Xestro or comparable medical practice-management software would be advantageous but is not essential.
