About the Role

An opportunity is available for an experienced APS6 Senior Rehabilitation and Early Intervention Officer to join a Strategic WHS, Rehabilitation and Wellness function.

Operating under limited direction, you will manage rehabilitation, early intervention and wellbeing matters, with a strong focus on prevention and early resolution.

The position requires sound professional judgement and the ability to independently manage sensitive physical and psychological health matters. You will work closely with employees, operational managers, medical professionals and internal stakeholders to implement practical and evidence-based interventions.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate rehabilitation, early intervention and preventative employee wellbeing activities.
- Identify, assess and develop mitigation strategies for psychosocial and workplace health risks.
- Manage emerging physical and psychological health matters before they escalati…
- Negotiate suitable duties, short-term workplace accommodations and informal reasonable adjustments.
- Develop and deliver education to managers on recognising burnout, psychological stress and physical strain.
- Monitor WHS incident and case data to identify emerging trends and systemic workplace risks.
- Design, implement and evaluate preventative health and wellbeing initiatives.
- Prepare complex case briefs, project documentation, sensitive correspondence and management advice.




- Provide culturally safe advice and consultation across a diverse national workforce.
- Contribute to broader workplace health, safety and wellbeing strategies.

Skills and Experience

To be successful, you will bring:

- Experience in workplace health, rehabilitation and case management.
- Experience across workers' compensation, early intervention, psychosocial risk management and/or organisational wellbeing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of rehabilitation and WHS legislation and contemporary practice.
- Experience interpreting and applying the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 and relevant Commonwealth WHS frameworks.
- Strong case management skills and the ability to independently manage sensitive and complex matters.
- Robust stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills across employees, managers and professional service providers.
- Sound judgement, impartiality and discretion when working with confidential employee information.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex matters into clear management advice.
- Strong organisational capability and attention to detail.

Qualifications

- Qualifications in WHS, rehabilitation or a related discipline are desirable.

Additional Information

- Immediate Start and no security clearance required.
