Job Description
Our client, a well-established food manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their production team.
n
This is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining, fault-finding, repairing and improving a wide range of food production machinery. You will play an important role in keeping equipment operating safely, efficiently and reliably while minimising production downtime.
n
Please note: This role involves working in a food manufacturing environment where you must be comfortable working around and handling pork products.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns
n
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues to reduce equipment downtime
n
- Install, assemble, test and maintain production machinery and mechanical components
n
- Repair, adjust and modify machinery and equipment when required
n
- Inspect equipment and identify wear, faults, defects and potential safety issues
n
- Maintain and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
n
- Accurately complete maintenance documentation and records
n
- Support continuous improvement projects focused on equipment performance and reliability
n
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with HACCP, GMP, WHS and food safety requirements
n
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised maintenance and production environment
n
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to support daily operational requirements
n
n
About You
n
n
- A recognised trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or equivalent
n
- At least 5 years' experience in mechanical fitting or maintenance
n
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
n
- Experience working with preventative maintenance programs
n
- Sound knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, pneumatics and hydraulics
n
- Basic welding capabilities, with TIG and MIG experience highly regarded
n
- Experience operating lathes and milling machines is advantageous
n
- Previous experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging or processing will be highly regarded
n
- A strong understanding of workplace safety, hygiene and quality requirements
n
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
n
- Excellent communication skills and robust attention to detail
n
- Ability and willingness to work around and handle pork products in a food manufacturing environment
n
