Our client is an established national infrastructure contractor entering an important period of growth across major Australian infrastructure.

They are part of the consortium delivering a significant new rail connection on the Sunshine Coast, bringing together leading infrastructure capability across a complex greenfield program.

What makes the business particularly attractive is where it is heading. With the backing, capability and financial strength to pursue increasingly large infrastructure programs, our client is building its leadership capability for the next phase rather than simply resourcing one project.

For experienced construction leaders, that creates the opportunity to join a major project without becoming lost in the machine. You will have access to scale, technical complexity and a substantial pipeline while retaining visibility with the people making the decisions.

The opportunity

There are structures roles where you inherit a package and deliver someone else's plan. This is not one of them.

You will join early enough to influence how some of the project's most significant structures are actually built.

The program includes major rail bridges through a challenging greenfield alignment, piling, Super T and plank construction, complex road and waterway interfaces, a significant crossing of the Bruce Highway and a substantial 199 span viaduct program.

While carrying an Area Manager title, the scale and accountability are closer to Construction Manager level.

You will have genuine influence over methodology, constructability, sequencing, procurement and resourcing before peak construction begins. You will also help build the engineering and supervision capability around you as the project team scales significantly.

It is a rare combination of technical depth and timing. The project is significant enough to challenge an experienced structures leader,

but early enough that your experience can still change the outcome.

Benefits and working arrangements

- This is a permanent leadership appointment initially supporting early project activity before transitioning to the Sunshine Coast as delivery accelerates.
- You will join a major infrastructure program with significant visibility, autonomy and the opportunity to establish your own delivery rhythm rather than inherit one.
- Importantly, the career proposition extends beyond this project. Our client's broader growth and diversification strategy is creating genuine headroom for high performing leaders who want to progress towards Construction Manager, Project Manager, Project Director or broader operational leadership positions.
- For someone already performing well elsewhere, that longer term opportunity matters. This is not simply a move to another project. It is an opportunity to take on greater ownership now while positioning yourself for what comes next.

A bit about you

You understand how major structures actually get built.

You can walk a work front with supervisors, challenge methodology with engineers and sit with senior project leadership to work through program, commercial risk and delivery strategy.

You have enough construction depth to recognise where assumptions need to be challenged across piling, temporary works, access, cranage, precast installation, staging and complex interfaces.

You are also a leader who thinks ahead. You create clarity for your team,

identify constraints before they reach the work front and give capable engineers and supervisors the confidence to take ownership.

You do not need to solve every problem yourself. Your value comes from asking the right questions, making good decisions and creating a team capable of consistently delivering around you.

Desired skills and experience

Your career will likely have been built within a Tier 1 or strong upper Tier 2 contractor delivering significant road, rail, bridge or transport infrastructure.

You may currently be an Area Manager, Construction Manager, Structures Manager or Senior Project Manager. Equally, you could be a highly capable structures Project Manager ready for broader construction leadership.

TMR bridge experience will be highly regarded, together with robust exposure to piling, substructure and bridge construction. Experience with Super T, plank or comparable precast methodologies and Design and Construct environments will give you a strong foundation for the scope.

For the bridge package, experience delivering a multi span structure over a live highway or similarly complex transport corridor would be particularly valuable. For the viaduct scope, experience establishing production rhythm across large scale repetitive structures will be equally relevant.

More than anything, we are looking for construction credibility, commercial judgement and leadership presence.

For the right person, this has the potential to become one of those projects that defines a period of your career. You will join before the answers have been decided, shape a technically significant structures program, build capability around you and remain close enough to delivery to see those early decisions become infrastructure that will serve the Sunshine Coast for decades.
