The Opportunity
n
Due to continued growth, Promech Engineering is seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its tight-knit team in Toowong.
n
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering workplace, you will provide high-level mechanical engineering expertise across small, medium and large-scale alternative fuels, petrochemical and oil & gas projects, both within Australia and internationally.
n
You will play a key role in leading mechanical engineering delivery, providing technical direction and mentoring less experienced engineers while working closely with clients, project teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Lead and oversee mechanical engineering design across complex projects
n
- Provide technical leadership and direction across mechanical engineering disciplines
n
- Deliver and verify mechanical design for tanks, pressure vessels, piping systems and minor structural frames/supports
n
- Perform and review design calculations to ensure fitness for purpose and compliance
n
- Prepare and review engineering design reports, calculations and technical documentation
n
- Develop technical specifications for mechanical and process equipment, valves and instrumentation
n
- Review and technically evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals
n
- Engage with and manage suppliers and subcontractors to ensure technical requirements are met
n
- Provide technical input across projects from concept through to detailed design and fabrication
n
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients and project stakeholders
n
- Mentor and support the development of less experienced engineers
n
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and the Quality Management System (QMS)
n

About You
n
n
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (essential)
n
- RPEQ registration (essential)
n
- 15+ years' relevant mechanical engineering experience
n
- Demonstrated experience leading and delivering mechanical design from concept through to fabrication
n
- Strong experience in petrochemical, alternative fuels, oil & gas or minerals refining environments
n
- Strong working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including AS 1210, ASME VIII, AS 4041 and ASME B31.3
n
- Strong grounding in first-principles mechanical design
n
- Experience in mechanical equipment selection and specification
n
- Package engineering experience for mechanical plant
n
- Broad multidisciplinary engineering understanding
n
- Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
n
