About the role

Reporting to the Ecology Team Leader, you will participate in a variety of interesting ecological projects, working within a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers across public and private sectors. You will work on a wide range of projects in different habitats throughout Queensland and potentially beyond.

Key responsibilities

Plan and conduct flora and fauna surveys in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and guidelines, including capture of digital data and field samples, to a high degree of competency.

Undertake fieldwork competently and safely by complying with relevant H&S; requirements, including internal Kleinfelder and external client procedures.

Preparation of reports and assessments to a high standard including ecological assessments, vegetation management plans, offset management plans, and more.

Develop client relationships and assist with the ecology team business development and proposal drafting with an understanding of scope and legislative requirements.

Assist Project Managers ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

Navigate and advise on environmental legislation and approval pathways.

Represent Kleinfelder in the industry through forums and professional bodies.

Participate in training and development opportunities with senior staff to broaden your skills and technical ability.

Contribute to workforce capability by mentoring junior staff, reviewing technical work, facilitating knowledge transfer, and providing guidance on professional and career development.

About you

We are seeking talented individuals with demonstrated experience as a senior or associate ecologist who desires to advance their career with a global environmental consultancy. Applicants will be highly regarded if they have an in-depth knowledge and practical application of National and State Regulations and Guidelines and their application to ecological assessments, especially vegetation assessments.

Education, experience and skills required:

A relevant degree in ecology, environmental science, natural resource management or a related discipline.

5-10 years of experience in the environmental consulting industry (depending on position).

Well-developed Flora and Fauna identification skills in QLD.

Experience in performing targeted threatened species surveys. Flora experience highly regarded.

Demonstrated experience in the delivery of a variety of ecology projects across a range of industry sectors for both public and private clients.





Experience across the Resource/Energy sector (mining/quarrying and gas), and infrastructure development will be highly regarded.

Excellent reporting skills with experience in Ecological Assessment Reports (EARS) and Ecological Management plan preparation.

Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to contribute in team and client meetings.

4WD and remote fieldwork experience preferred.

Unrestricted full legal work rights to work in Australia.
