About the Role
n
The Technical Delivery Lead is a hands‐on role responsible for technical implementation quality, feasibility and engineering standards across digital projects.
n
You'll work closely with our Business Analyst / Solutions Designer, Account Project Managers, designers and developers to make sure requirements are technically feasible, estimates are realistic and builds are delivered to the right standard.
n
You will guide developers, review implementation quality, support technical planning, oversee QA and releases, and identify technical risks before they become delivery problems.
n
You'll also contribute directly to technical problem‐solving, code and estimates review, diagnosing issues, architecture discussions and production support where required.
n
This role suits an experienced developer ready to take greater ownership of technical delivery without moving away from hands‐on engineering.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Technical Architecture & Feasibility
n
n
- Review functional requirements and assess technical feasibility.
n
- Recommend practical implementation approaches within the agreed architecture.
n
- Support technical planning, estimation and task breakdown.
n
- Identify technical dependencies, constraints and risks early.
n
- Work with the Business Analyst / Solutions Designer to clarify requirements before development begins.
n
- Support Account Project Managers with reliable technical inputs into delivery planning.
n
- Escalate significant architecture, security or platform risks when specialist or senior input is required.
n
- Help ensure technical decisions balance quality, maintainability, delivery speed and project requirements.
n
- Audit existing applications, repositories and environments when taking over legacy or third‐party systems.
n
- Identify technical debt, scalability concerns, security risks and system dependencies early.
n
- Ensure architecture and key technical decisions are properly documented.
n
n
Engineering Quality & Standards
n
n
- Review pull requests and key code changes.
n
- Maintain coding, documentation and code‐review standards.
n
- Review internal,
contractor and legacy development work where required.
n
- Identify maintainability, performance and security issues.
n
- Help reduce technical debt and avoidable post‐launch defects.
n
- Ensure developers follow agreed engineering practices.
n
- Contribute directly to architecture or code where hands‐on intervention is required.
n
- Encourage reusable, maintainable development rather than short‐term fixes.
n
n
QA, Release & Production Readiness
n
n
- Support technical QA across websites, web applications and mobile products.
n
- Define appropriate testing requirements for each project.
n
- Review builds before release and identify technical risks.
n
- Maintain release, deployment and rollback checklists.
n
- Support defect investigation, root‐cause analysis and resolution.
n
- Ensure production issues are properly resolved rather than repeatedly patched.
n
- Make the final technical call on whether a build is ready for release.
n
n
Cloud, DevOps & Platform Reliability
n
n
- Support the review and maintenance of AWS, Azure and other cloud environments.
n
- Review development, staging and production environment configuration.
n
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
n
- Review permissions, access and basic security configuration.
n
- Help maintain appropriate monitoring, logging, backups and alerts.
n
- Support performance and infrastructure optimisation.
n
- Assist with production incidents and platform troubleshooting.Ensure environments and deployment processes are appropriately documented.
n

Technical Planning & Delivery
n
n
- Lead technical estimation and provide reliable technical inputs into project planning.
n
- Identify technical dependencies, risks and constraints before development begins.
n
- Work with Account Project Managers to ensure technical plans align with delivery timelines and scope.
n
- Work with the Business Analyst / Solutions Designer to validate that functional requirements are technically feasible and sufficiently defined.
n
- Flag technical risks or estimate changes early rather than after work has commenced.Support technical investigation and solution planning during discovery.
n
- Provide clear technical updates to non‐technical stakeholders when required.
n
- Support production incidents and ensure agreed technical SLAs are met.
n
- Provide day‐to‐day technical guidance to developers and interns.
n
- Review estimates, work and provide constructive technical feedback.
n
- Support knowledge sharing and consistent engineering practices across the team.
n
- Assist with onboarding and training developers.
n
- Contribute to technical assessments when recruiting development talent.
n
- Help distribute technical knowledge so critical systems are not dependent on one person.
n

Performance & Continuous Improvement
n

- Ensure analytics, monitoring and technical tracking requirements are implemented correctly.
n
- Support technical SEO, accessibility and performance requirements.
n
- Identify recurring technical issues and recommend improvements.
n
- Monitor technical debt and raise areas requiring remediation.
n
- Help improve the balance between new development and fixing existing issues.
n
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in engineering standards, documentation and delivery processes.

About You

You are an experienced developer who is comfortable taking responsibility beyond your own individual tasks.
n
You enjoy being close to the work, but you can also step back, review what the team is building and identify what needs to improve.
n
You can communicate clearly with developers, designers, project managers and non‐technical stakeholders.
n
You're pragmatic, organised and willing to challenge poor technical decisions when needed.
n
Ideally, you bring:
n
n
- 3–7 years of software engineering experience.
n
- Experience leading technical delivery, mentoring developers or taking ownership of engineering quality.
n
- Strong experience with React and Next.js.
n
- Good backend experience with Node.js and frameworks such as NestJS.
n
- Strong understanding of APIs and integrations.
n
- Experience working with CMS platforms such as Strapi or similar headless CMS platforms.
n
- Practical experience with WP Engine, AWS and/or Azure.
n
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
n
- Strong code‐review and debugging capability.
n
- Experience supporting live production applications.
n
- Understanding of QA, automated testing and release processes.
n
- Good understanding of security, authentication and permissions.
n
- Experience with Git-based development workflows.
n
