Tax Supervisor / Assistant Manager - Geelong Region (Torquay)

We're a boutique practice based in Torquay on the Surf Coast, servicing trades and construction businesses across Australia. Our clients stay compliant and get straight-talking tax planning they actually understand. The onshore team is four people, supported by two offshore staff - and we're growing.

About the role

n

This is the review seat in the practice. You'll work across a broad portfolio of trades, construction and project-based SME clients, reporting directly to the Director. Your job is to make sure the work leaving this office is right, on time, and communicated properly - and to build client rapport.

You'll allocate and review the work of our staff, coach them to lift their technical standard, and take the moderately complex advisory and tax planning conversations yourself. This is a hybrid role based in Torquay, paying $100,000 - $130,000 + SUPER.

What you'll do

n

- Review financial statements, tax returns and BAS across companies, trusts and partnerships
n
- Allocate work to staff, and coach them through review points
n




- Handle moderately complex advisory - Division 7A, FBT, GST, CGT and small business concessions
n
- Lead proactive tax planning discussions with clients ahead of year end
n
- Own quality, deadlines and client communication standards across the portfolio
n

What you'll bring

n

n
- CA, CPA or CTA qualified
n
- 5+ years in Australian public practice tax, with genuine review experience
n
- Confidence coaching junior staff and giving clear, constructive review feedback
n
- Comfort running client conversations with business owners
n
- Xero and cloud practice management experience
n
- Nice to have: experience with trades or construction clients, and small business CGT concessions.
