Job Description
As the Facilities Manager, you will coordinate facilities and maintenance activities across a diverse portfolio of operational sites, including:
n
n
- Workshops
n
- Welding bays
n
- Truck bases
n
- Vehicle and equipment yards
n
- Operational work areas
n
- Offices and meeting facilities
n
- Rest-house accommodation
n
- Supporting property infrastructure
n
n
This is not a traditional office-based Facilities Manager position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being hands-on, visible and actively engaged across practical, industrial and operational environments.
n
You will work closely with Site Managers, Area Managers, contractors, tradespeople and other stakeholders to ensure facilities are maintained safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Coordinate planned and preventative maintenance activities
n
- Manage reactive and corrective maintenance requirements
n
- Issue, monitor and follow up maintenance work orders
n
- Engage, coordinate and manage contractors and trades
n
- Monitor completion of scheduled maintenance activities
n
- Follow up outstanding maintenance and corrective actions
n
- Liaise with Site Managers, Area Managers and operational stakeholders
n
- Build and maintain strong contractor relationships
n
- Act as an escalation point for facilities-related issues
n
- Review upcoming maintenance requirements and plan works in advance
n
- Assist with warranty, supplier and contractor issues
n
- Support the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance activities
n
- Undertake mandatory regional travel as required
n
- Undertake interstate travel from time to time
n
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance and quality
n
n
About You
n
We are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager who brings a practical and hands‐on approach to facilities and maintenance management.
n
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:
n
n
- Facilities Management
n
- Maintenance Management
n
- Building or Property Maintenance
n
- Trade Supervision
n
- Maintenance Coordination
n
- Asset Maintenance
n
- Transport Infrastructure
n
- Rail
n
- Construction
n
- Government
n
- Blue‐collar operational environments
n
n
A trade background would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
n
What We're Looking For
n
n
- Strong practical facilities and maintenance knowledge
n
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors and trades
n
- Experience coordinating planned and reactive maintenance
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
n
- Excellent safety awareness
n
- Strong organisational and problem‐solving skills
n
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of outcomes
n
- Confidence managing competing priorities
n
- Professional judgement and accountability
n
- Ability to build strong relationships with operational stakeholders and contractors
n
- Willingness and ability to undertake mandatory regional travel
n
- Availability to travel for approximately 1-3 days per month
n
- Willingness and ability to undertake interstate travel from time to time
n
- Ability to work effectively across operational and corporate environments
n
n
Experience with CMMS, SAP or similar maintenance management systems would be beneficial; however, advanced systems experience is not essential, with training available on internal systems and processes.
n
Working Arrangements

The role offers a degree of flexibility, including:
n

- Flexible start and finish times
n
- Work-from-home flexibility
n
- Mandatory regional travel
n
- Typically 1-3 days of travel per month
n
- Interstate travel required from time to time
n
- Travel to regional and remote locations as operationally required
n
n
Candidates must be comfortable with travel as an essential requirement of the position.

This is a 12-month fixed‐term opportunity with the potential for longer‐term or permanent employment depending on performance, suitability and ongoing business requirements.
