Mechanical Project Lead – Surface Projects

n

The Chance

n

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Lead to lead the delivery of surface mechanical capital projects at a Tier 1 Mining Operator in Queensland.

n

With a significant capital program underway, this role will manage the end-to-end delivery of critical surface mechanical infrastructure including fixed plant, materials handling systems, pumping infrastructure, workshops, processing infrastructure, structural/mechanical installations, and associated site upgrades.

n

This position is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality and technical standards.

Contract & Roster

- Contractor Position
n
- Initial 12-month+ contract (likely a 2-year capital program)
n
- 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster
n
- Direct flights to site from Cairns, Townsville or Brisbane
n
- Meals and accommodation provided
n

Key Responsibilities

n

Reporting to the Capital Projects Lead, you will:

n

n
- Manage the full project lifecycle from planning through to construction, commissioning and handover
n
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams including engineers, supervisors, trades and contractors
n
- Ensure compliance with site safety, statutory, environmental and operational requirements
n
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts and cost controls
n
- Coordinate procurement, contractor engagement and site execution activities
n
- Oversee mechanical installation works including fixed plant, pumping systems, materials handling equipment, structural/mechanical infrastructure and associated surface facilities
n
- Coordinate interfaces between mechanical, structural, electrical, civil and operational disciplines
n




- Manage project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
n
- Manage change control processes and stakeholder communication
n
- Drive quality assurance, inspection, testing and commissioning readiness
n
- Coordinate shutdowns and operational interfaces where required
n
- Provide regular reporting to senior stakeholders on project performance, progress, cost and risks
n

About You

n

You are a delivery-focused Mechanical Project Manager with strong surface mining capital project experience.

n

You will demonstrate:

n

n
- 5+ years' experience in mining or heavy industrial project environments
n
- Proven experience delivering mechanical capital projects within surface mining operations
n
- Mechanical Engineering degree or trade background with strong project management experience
n
- Experience managing budgets, contracts, schedules and project controls
n
- Strong knowledge of fixed plant, pumping systems, materials handling, workshops and surface mechanical infrastructure
n
- Experience working within Tier 1 mining operational environments
n
- Strong contractor and construction management capability
n
- Experience managing multidisciplinary interfaces and working within live operational environments
n
- Proficiency with SAP, MS Project and Microsoft Office
n
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and leadership skills
n
- Project Management qualifications (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent) will be highly regarded
n
