Senior Java Developer

12 month contract

We're partnering with a globally recognised mining technology organisation seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join a high-performing engineering team delivering software that supports critical mining operations.

n

This role sits within a specialised mining technology environment, developing software that enables real-time guidance, monitoring, fleet management and operational visibility across large-scale mining operations. You'll join a high-performing, self-managing team working on modern cloud-native platforms, distributed systems and mission-critical applications used by some of the world's largest mining organisations.

What you'll be doing

n

n
- Develop high-quality Java applications and backend services
n
- Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices
n
- Design scalable, resilient and maintainable software solutions
n
- Deliver features end-to-end from refinement and estimation through to development, testing and release
n
- Contribute to solution design, technical decision-making and delivery planning
n
- Write clean, testable and well-documented code
n
- Review code and support engineering best practices across the team
n
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing and collaboration
n
- Investigate and resolve complex production issues through troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
n
- Partner with Product, Quality Engineering and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes
n
- Work closely with domain experts to understand complex mining and operational workflows
n
- Take ownership of technical outcomes, proactively managing risks, dependencies and delivery commitments
n
- Improve system performance, reliability,



observability and security
n
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering practices and processes
n

What you need to bring

n

n
- 7+ years' commercial software development experience
n
- Strong Java development expertise
n
- Experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot
n
- RESTful API development experience
n
- Experience working with microservices and distributed architectures
n
- Robust database design and development skills
n
- Experience building applications in cloud-based environments
n
- Exposure to modern build, testing and dependency management practices
n
- Understanding of secure software development principles
n
- Proven ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in complex environments
n
- Strong analytical, solution design and problem-solving skills
n
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with engineers, business stakeholders and subject matter experts
n
- Comfortable working with geographically distributed teams and specialised domain experts
n
- Willingness to learn and quickly develop expertise in complex business and operational domains
n
- Commitment to continuous learning, feedback and professional development
