About the Role

The Fleet Manager will provide end-to-end fleet management services for VicFleet, supporting the Victorian Government's transition to a centralised, optimised and zero-emissions vehicle fleet.



The role will manage short-term vehicle hire and bookings for public sector employees, emergency surge capacity, Members of Parliament and executives, while overseeing vehicle assets, maintenance, fuel cards, insurance, registration, safety and compliance, driver management, fleet optimisation, vehicle replacements and customer service. The role is hands-on and onsite five days a week, requiring regular movement between parking locations and some manual handling. Extensive fleet management experience, robust vehicle knowledge and the ability to optimise vehicle utilisation and costs are essential; government experience is desirable.

Key Accountabilities

- Oversee vehicle bookings, allocation, dispatch and returns, ensuring efficient workflow, safe vehicle movements and reliable service delivery to government clients.
- Provide expert advice and support to VPS employees, Members of Parliament and executives on vehicle selection, leasing, maintenance and fleet requirements.
- Oversee vehicle commissioning, utilisation, maintenance, repairs, insurance, fuel/charge cards, registration, cleaning and replacement, ensuring safety, compliance and roadworthiness.
- Maintain high standards of safety and regulatory compliance while identifying opportunities to improve vehicle utilisation, efficiency and fleet performance.
- Work collaboratively across VicFleet to support fleet optimisation, decarbonisation and other branch and business operations initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need topossess the following attributes:





- Extensive experience in fleet operations and lifecycle management, including acquisition, leasing, utilisation, maintenance, replacement, disposal and whole-of-life cost management.
- Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and deliver customer-focused outcomes.
- Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to present clear, high-quality information to a range of audiences and use fleet systems and reporting tools to monitor performance, costs and utilisation.
- Strong knowledge of registration, insurance, servicing, roadworthiness, infringements, driver safety, incident management, policy compliance, risk controls and business continuity.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment while driving efficiency and business improvement. A full Victorian driver's licence and relevant qualifications or experience are highly regarded.
