Your Role
As a Support Worker, you’ll play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing homelessness. Working alongside our Case Management team, you’ll provide practical and emotional support to clients, helping them navigate challenges, build independence and work towards their individual goals. Every day will be different. From providing day-to-day support and connecting clients with services, to maintaining a safe and welcoming accommodation setting, you’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a genuine difference. This is a rewarding role for someone who is compassionate, resilient and committed to supporting people with dignity and respect.
Your Responsibility
- Provide practical, emotional and person-centred support to clients in line with their individual case plans
- Build positive and respectful relationships with clients,
using a trauma-informed and non-judgemental approach
- Support clients to achieve their goals and access appropriate services and community supports
- Work closely with Case Managers, colleagues and external agencies to coordinate effective support
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, case notes and daily documentation
- Help create a safe, welcoming and inclusive accommodation environment
- Support client orientation, room organisation, inspections, meal services and general accommodation standards
- Assist clients to understand and follow service guidelines and meet their day-to-day needs
- Support activities and programs that encourage connection, participation and independence
- Advocate for clients and help them navigate relevant services and systems
- Transport clients when required
- Contribute to maintaining service quality, compliance and performance standards
- Work across a flexible roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays as required
You Will Need
- Experience working in a support role, ideally within homelessness, housing, community services or a similar environment
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice and person-centred support
- The ability to work respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and with complex needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisation and attention to detail, including accurate record keeping
- The ability to remain calm, compassionate and professional in challenging situations
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a team-oriented team
- Flexibility and availability to work a range of shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays
