Rotor Studios is an award-winning CG studio creating cutting-edge digital experiences for the automotive industry. With over 20 years of experience, we work with leading local and international automotive brands to deliver world-class vehicle configurators and immersive interactive experiences. We're looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Freelancer to join our team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a highly capable developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, takes ownership of delivery, and is passionate about building scalable, maintainable software while working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

n

As a Senior Full Stack Freelancer, you'll work across the full application stack alongside front-end developers, back-end developers, Unreal Engine developers, designers and project managers to deliver high-quality digital experiences. You'll play a key role in shaping technical direction, improving code quality, mentoring other developers, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

You'll be expected to work independently, communicate proactively, and contribute to improving development processes and technical standards across the team.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Design, develop and maintain scalable full-stack web applications.
n
- Build clean, maintainable and well-tested code following industry best practices.
n
- Collaborate with designers, developers and project managers to deliver projects on time.
n
- Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
n




- Conduct code reviews and contribute to improving overall code quality.
n
- Identify technical risks, blockers and opportunities early, communicating them proactively.
n
- Support and mentor junior developers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
n
- Contribute to improving development workflows, standards and engineering practices.
n
- Ensure Jira tasks are kept up to date and development progress is accurately communicated.
n
- Help establish and maintain consistent architecture and development standards across projects.

What We're Looking For

- 7+ years of commercial full-stack development experience.
n
- Experience delivering complex web applications from concept through to deployment.
n
- Strong understanding of up-to-date software architecture and engineering best practices.
n
- Ability to estimate work accurately and take ownership of project delivery.
n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
n
- Experience mentoring developers and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
n
- A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
n
- Comfortable working across multiple projects in a fast-paced studio environment.

Must Have

- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
n
- Excellent experience with React and modern front-end frameworks.
n
- Strong experience with Node.js and backend application development.
n
- Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
n
- Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
n
- Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
n
- Experience with Git and modern CI/CD workflows.
n
- Experience writing automated tests and promoting test-driven development.
n
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
n
- Strong understanding of application performance, scalability and security.

- Experience with Docker and containerised deployments.

- Experience with GraphQL.
n
- Experience with WebGL, Three.js or interactive 3D applications.

- Familiarity with Unreal Engine workflows.

- Experience implementing automated code quality tools and static analysis.
