Payroll Specialist

Accounting and Finance | Payroll and Financial Operations
n Melbourne | Hybrid, 4 days in office | $125,000-135,000 plus super

A growing accounting and advisory business is bringing together payroll across several entities as part of a broader period of expansion. This is a role with real ownership over how that process comes together, not a maintenance position inside something already settled.

The business operates nationally, structured through a number of legal entities following a series of practice acquisitions. Payroll sits at the centre of that consolidation work.

The Role

n

n
- Process end to end payroll on a fortnightly and monthly cycle across multiple entities
n
- Maintain payroll records including new starters, terminations, leave balances, and adjustments
n
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and tax requirements
n
- Process superannuation, PAYG withholding, payroll tax, and payroll related reconciliations
n
- Assist month end and year end processes, including journal entries and reconciliations
n




- Prepare and reconcile bank, balance sheet, and payroll related accounts, and support accounts payable and receivable as required
n

Background Required

n

n
- Relevant qualification, or working towards one, in accounting, payroll, or a related field
n
- Proven mid to senior experience in payroll processing alongside general accounting or bookkeeping
n
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation, tax, and superannuation requirements
n
- Proficiency in payroll and accounting systems, and strong Microsoft Excel skills
n
- Comfortable working through ambiguity, given the business is still integrating systems and processes across entities
