Position Title: Yirramagardu Crew Supervisor (Y-Crew Supervisor)

Reports To: Service Delivery Manager

Position Purpose
n
The Yirramagardu Crew Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination and support of the Yirramagardu Crew.
n
The role is hands‐on and involves working alongside crew members to deliver gardening, grounds maintenance and general community maintenance services safely and to a high standard.
n
A key part of the position is providing practical leadership, mentoring and support to crew members to develop their workplace skills, confidence, reliability and readiness for ongoing employment.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Crew Supervision & Leadership
n
n
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Y-Crew members.
n
- Allocate daily tasks and provide clear instructions to crew members.
n
- Work alongside the crew and provide practical, hands‐on guidance.
n
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, performance and workplace behaviour.
n
- Encourage positive work habits, teamwork and accountability.
n
- Provide mentoring and support to crew members developing workplace skills.
n
- Escalate attendance, conduct, performance or welfare concerns to management/HR where required.
n
n
Gardening & Grounds Maintenance
n
n
- Coordinate and undertake general gardening and grounds maintenance activities.
n
- Mowing, edging, pruning, weeding and general garden maintenance.
n
- Maintain gardens, lawns and outdoor community areas.
n
- Undertake basic landscaping and clean‐up activities.
n
- Safely operate gardening equipment, machinery and hand tools.
n
- Ensure equipment is maintained, stored correctly and reported if damaged or unsafe.
n
- Ensure work is completed efficiently and to the required standard.
n
n
Daily Operations
n
n
- Plan and coordinate daily work activities and priorities.
n
- Ensure the crew has the equipment, tools and materials required for scheduled work.
n
- Monitor the quality and completion of work.
n
- Communicate operational issues or additional work requirements to management.
n
- Maintain basic records relating to attendance, completed work and operational requirements.
n
- Support transport and movement of crew members, equipment and materials where required.
n
n
Safety & Compliance
n
n
- Promote and maintain a protected working environment.
n
- Ensure crew members follow WHS requirements, safe work procedures and instructions.
n
- Conduct or participate in pre‐starts and toolbox meetings as required.
n
- Ensure appropriate PPE is worn and equipment is used safely.
n
- Identify and report hazards, incidents, injuries and near misses.
n
- Ensure crew members only undertake work they are trained and competent to perform.
n
n
Community & Employee Development
n
n
- Build respectful and positive relationships with crew members and community stakeholders.
n
- Support crew members to develop practical employment skills and confidence.
n
- Provide a culturally respectful and supportive working environment.
n
- Encourage crew members to develop independence, responsibility and positive workplace behaviours.

- Support pathways into further training and sustainable employment where appropriate.

Essential Requirements
n
n
- Previous experience supervising or leading a small operational team.
n
- Practical experience in gardening, landscaping, grounds maintenance or a similar hands‐on environment.
n
- Demonstrated ability to lead,
mentor and motivate employees with different levels of workplace experience.
n
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
n
- Ability to provide clear instructions and manage day‐to‐day work priorities.
n
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
n
- Ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal employees, community members and stakeholders.
n
- Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence.
n
- Ability to undertake the physical requirements of the position.
n
- Ability to obtain required pre‐employment and workplace clearances.
n
n
Desirable
n
n
- Previous experience working within Aboriginal communities or community-based employment programs.
n
- Experience mentoring employees who may face barriers to employment.
n
- Relevant horticulture, landscaping or grounds maintenance qualifications.
n
- Previous supervisory experience within gardening, facilities maintenance or similar services.
n
- First Aid certification.
n
- Relevant machinery, equipment or plant competencies.
n
n
