We are seeking to establish a pool of Laboratory Technicians for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Piara Waters Senior High School (SHS) is situated in the beautifully landscaped suburb of Piara Waters, approximately 25kms south of Perth. The school is surrounded by luscious greenery and forms part of the vibrant, multicultural community of Piara Waters. The school commenced with Year 7 students in 2023, adding each year to its growing cohort, until it reaches Year 12 in 2028.

The Role

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for the efficient operation of the school's Science laboratories and preparation areas. The role involves preparing equipment and materials for practical lessons, maintaining laboratory resources, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, and providing technical support to Science staff.

As Laboratory Technician, you would provide support to teaching staff in the areas of routine chemical and equipment preparation and construction of simple apparatus for science classes, whilst ordering supplies, equipment and managing stock levels. The suitable applicant swould perform basic repairs and maintenance on the equipment whilst constructing teaching aids as required. Additionally, you will be responsible for the labelling, maintaining and safe storing of laboratory chemicals, equipment and resources and the disposal of chemical, physical, and biological laboratory materials.

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician who is flexible, adaptable,



and willing to develop within the context of a foundation school. The suitable applicants will ideally possess initiative, good interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as exceptional organisational skills. You should be motivated and have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team. Previous experience in an education science laboratory setting is desirable. The suitable applicants will form an integral part of our school’s foundation team.

Eligibility

- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
