$170,000 – $180,000 per year + annual bonus
The incumbent will utilise their legal, contractual, and commercial experience, expertise and acumen to align legal strategies with overarching business objectives, while providing practical day-to-day legal advice and guidance on international legal matters when requested. The incumbent will negotiate, draft, and manage commercial arrangements, identify, assess, and manage contractual and legal risk across transactions, ensuring consistency in approach. They will develop and maintain legal policies; provide practical solutions to contractual, commercial, and legal challenges; and collaborate closely with Compliance and Finance teams to ensure regulatory compliance, effective commercial contracting, and alignment with overall business objectives. This role is responsible for providing contractual, project compliance and legal analysis in Australia and Singapore, together with other jurisdictions within the group's responsibility, including South Africa and other Southeast Asian countries.
Key responsibilities
Provide timely, accurate legal advice across a broad range of matters, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and risk management.
Draft, review, negotiate and manage commercial agreements, contracts and legal documentation.
Interpret and communicate legal obligations in a clear, practical manner to business stakeholders, including ensuring that all parties understand their obligations under internal policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Communicate and negotiate with external parties, including regulators and public authorities, while developing and maintaining relationships of trust.
Take primary responsibility for internal legal projects, ensuring matters are progressed, coordinated,
and completed in line with business requirements.
Identify, assess and manage legal risks, recommending mitigation strategies aligned with business priorities and developed in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and governance frameworks.
Assist with internal audits, investigations and regulatory inquiries as required.
Identify, assess and manage contractual risks associated with project-based contracts.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver pragmatic legal solutions.
About you
Degree in Law, or an equivalent combination of education and proven relevant experience.
At least five (5) years of legal experience, with a preference for at least three (3) years of relevant experience as a legal adviser in manufacturing, construction law, or an international commercial environment.
Ability to adapt to and navigate legal systems and cultural nuances across different countries.
High level of professional ethics, integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
Deep understanding of commercial terms, contract law and negotiation techniques.
Highly developed understanding of legal issues and practices from a practical perspective within an international and global environment.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify, assess and manage contractual risk.
Positive knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
Demonstrates sound business judgement, with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Self-motivated and goal-oriented, able to work autonomously with focus and commitment.
