Your Current Employer:
This is a beautiful, customer-led furniture business where the showroom experience is every bit as important as the product itself.
With a strong reputation for quality, considered design and personalised service, the business works closely with customers to help bring their homes to life. From carefully selected pieces through to custom orders and fabrics, no two customers or conversations are quite the same.
You’ll be stepping into a boutique showroom environment where relationships really matter. There is an established customer base, a strong local following and a small team who know the business well and are ready for an experienced leader to take the reins.
Your New Role:
As Showroom Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the day to day running of the showroom, leading a small and capable team while building strong relationships with customers.
This is a hands on leadership role where you’ll be involved in everything from welcoming customers and creating a beautiful showroom experience through to following up enquiries, managing orders and converting opportunities.
You’ll need to be comfortable with the reality of showroom retail. Some days will be busy with multiple customers, enquiries and sales happening at once. Other days will be quieter, giving you the opportunity to reconnect with past customers, follow up warm leads and create reasons for people to come back.
The successful person will be mature, self-sufficient and commercially minded, with the confidence to manage the showroom without needing someone looking over their shoulder.
What You’ll Get Up To:
- Take ownership of the showroom and lead a small team of experienced casuals
- Create a warm, personalised customer experience from the first conversation through to purchase and delivery
- Build genuine relationships with customers and understand their individual needs, tastes and projects
- Manage enquiries, follow-ups and custom orders to maximise sales opportunities
- Stay connected with existing customers and proactively follow up opportunities during quieter periods
- Keep the showroom beautifully presented and ensure product and displays are always looking their best
- Work closely with the wider business to manage stock, orders and customer expectations
- Be the go-to person for the team and take full responsibility for the showroom's performance
The Experience Checklist:
- Previous Store Manager, Showroom Manager or experienced Assistant Store Manager experience
- Background in furniture, homewares, interiors, fabrics or another premium customer led retail environment highly regarded
- A strong understanding of relationship based selling and the confidence to work with considered, higher value purchases
- Someone who can genuinely talk about a memorable customer relationship
- Commercially minded with a natural ability to follow up customers and turn enquiries into sales during quiet periods
- Comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of a showroom
- Mature enough to handle both busy periods and quieter trading days with the same level of energy and focus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with customers and a small team
- A local connection to the area and an understanding of the surrounding customer base would be highly regarded
