They are seeking a Full-Time Science Laboratory Manager to join a forward-thinking and collaborative Science team. This role will be supported by a team of Science Laboratory Technicians.
About the Role
The Science Laboratory Manager is responsible for the effective leadership, coordination, and day-to-day operation of the Science laboratories, including the supervision of laboratory support functions and the provision of technical assistance to Science staff. The role supports the delivery of high-quality Science teaching and learning, by ensuring practical activities are prepared safely and efficiently, and in a timely manner.
The Science Laboratory Manager supports the operation of Science and STEM learning spaces,
assisting teaching staff to integrate technology, innovation, and inquiry-based learning into the Science curriculum.
Key Selection Criteria
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated experience leading, coordinating, or supervising a team.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing demands.
- Solution-oriented and able to bring improvement and streamlining of processes and systems.
- Experience working in a science laboratory and with technologies.
- Experience using and supporting educational technologies and emerging tools in a Science and STEM context.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, chemical handling, storage, and disposal requirements.
- Experience preparing and maintaining risk assessments for practical scientific work.
- Knowledge of OH&S; legislation, regulations, and codes of practice relevant to school laboratories.
- Relevant qualifications in Science, Laboratory Science, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child safety and child safety compliance requirements.
