About the Role
Zenith Energy is looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer – Design & Construction to join the Engineering team and gain practical engineering experience across the design, construction, commissioning and delivery of our remote power generation projects.
This opportunity is designed for a recent graduate or final-year student nearing completion looking to establish their career in the energy industry. You will gain hands-on experience across both project sites and our Rivervale head office, with exposure to construction support, quality assurance, commissioning, vendor coordination, engineering documentation & project delivery.
The mix of site and office-based work is flexible, with your work location and roster, including site assignments and swings, will vary based on project and business requirements.
Working alongside experienced engineers and project professionals, you will have the opportunity to contribute across the full project lifecycle while developing your skills within an owner-operator environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support design, construction and project delivery teams with the management and interpretation of mechanical drawings, specifications, P&IDs; and vendor documentation.
- Participate in site inspections, field verification activities and mechanical installation reviews.
- Assist with identifying, documenting and resolving technical queries, RFIs and construction issues.
- Support mechanical installation activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality requirements and approved documentation.
- Assist with inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality records, commissioning documentation and verification records.
- Participate in pre-commissioning,
commissioning and performance testing activities alongside experienced engineers and commissioning personnel.
- Assist with defect identification, punch-list management, corrective actions and project close-out activities.
- Work with contractors, suppliers and vendors to support technical queries, equipment installation, commissioning and defect resolution.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, redlines, registers and project documentation and contribute to the preparation of as-built documentation.
- Gain exposure to Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM workflows and engineering information management systems.
- Capture lessons learned and constructability feedback to support continuous improvement across future projects.
About You
You are a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or final-year student looking to build your career through practical, hands-on experience in the energy industry.
You will have a strong interest in mechanical engineering within power generation, construction, commissioning or industrial environments, with the flexibility to work across both remote project sites and our head office as project and business requirements change.
You are curious, practical and eager to learn, with strong attention to detail and the confidence to work collaboratively with engineers, construction teams and other project professionals.
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline suitable for membership with Engineers Australia at graduate/professional level.
- Sound understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and systems such as piping systems, cooling systems,
exhaust systems and associated equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs;, datasheets and technical documentation with guidance.
- Practical problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Transparent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness and ability to work at remote project sites for extended periods when required.
- Awareness of health, safety, environmental and quality requirements within engineering and construction environments.
- Competency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Current C-Class WA driver's licence.
- Full, unrestricted Australian working rights are required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Certificate and medical clearance.
