Club Leader – XtraClubs Canberra
Lead from the front. Build a great team. Own the club experience.

XtraClubs is growing, and we’re looking for a hands-on Club Leader to lead our new Canberra location.

This is a genuine ownership role. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day success of the club — leading your team, maintaining exceptional standards, creating a great member experience and making sure the operation runs smoothly.

We’re not looking for someone who wants to manage from behind a desk. We want a leader who is present on the floor, notices the details, coaches in the moment and takes pride in making their club the best it can be.

You’ll report to the Area Manager and work closely with the wider XtraClubs leadership team.

What you’ll be responsible for
Lead and develop your team

Your biggest responsibility is building a strong Club Attendant team and creating an environment where people want to perform and stay.

You’ll:

- Lead from the floor and set the standard for your team

- Coach, support and develop Club Attendants

- Hold regular team meetings and 1:1s

- Provide clear feedback and recognise outstanding performance

- Build rosters, coordinate leave and ensure shifts are fully covered

- Create a positive team culture built around trust, accountability and pride

Own the club standards

You’ll treat the club like it’s yours and make sure the details are taken care of.

This includes:

- Keeping the club clean, organised, safe and consistently well-presented

- Maintaining high standards across saunas, ice baths, steam rooms, plant rooms and storage areas

- Ensuring water testing and chemical dosing procedures are completed correctly

- Managing stock and consumables within budget

- Identifying maintenance issues early and following them through to completion

- Making sure club signage, systems and procedures remain current and effective

Create an exceptional member experience

You’ll be visible and approachable in the club, helping create the welcoming environment XtraClubs is known for.

You’ll:

- Support members and resolve escalated concerns

- Review member feedback and NPS results

- Identify recurring issues and take action to improve them

- Coach the team on service, etiquette and member interactions

- Work closely with Customer Support when issues need additional follow-up

Run a disciplined operation

Behind a great club is a leader who is organised and follows through.

You’ll manage:

- Rostering and labour budgets

- Stock and procurement

- Operational reporting

- Health & safety and incident reporting

- Contractors and maintenance follow-ups

- Training and onboarding of new starters

What success looks like

We believe expectations should be clear.

You’ll be successful in this role when:

- Members love the experience — monthly NPS consistently at 4.5+

- Your team is strong — trained, supported, engaged and accountable

- The club looks exceptional — clean, organised and ready for members every day

- Labour and consumables stay within budget

- Maintenance issues are identified early and followed through

- Stock is managed proactively with no avoidable shortages

- Communication is consistent — your team knows what’s happening and what’s expected

Most importantly, you’ll create a club that members love visiting and a team that is proud to work there.

The kind of leader we’re looking for

You don’t need to come from a specific industry.

You may have worked in fitness, wellness, hospitality, retail, leisure or another customer-focused environment.

What matters most is how you lead.

You’ll be someone who:

- Has experience leading and developing a team

- Is naturally hands-on and comfortable leading from the floor

- Notices the small details and takes action without needing to be asked

- Communicates clearly and addresses issues early

- Can balance great customer service with strong operational standards

- Is organised and comfortable managing rosters, budgets and competing priorities

- Takes accountability and follows things through

- Is confident using technology and learning new systems

- Holds, or is willing to obtain, current First Aid & CPR certification

Your working week

This is a full-time, 38-hour-per-week role, structured to give you time both in the club and away from the floor to manage the operation effectively.

Your week will generally include:

- 28 hours working in-club — leading the team, supporting members and maintaining standards

- 10 hours of dedicated administrative time — rostering, reporting, procurement, planning and follow-ups

Hours may occasionally vary based on operational requirements.

What you’ll receive

- Competitive full-time salary + super

- Quarterly performance bonus of up to 5% of base salary, linked to clear club performance targets

- Complimentary XtraClubs membership

- Dedicated administrative time

- Direct support and mentoring from the Area Manager and Directors

- Genuine opportunities to progress into multi-site and senior operational roles as XtraClubs grows

- The opportunity to lead a brand-new XtraClubs location from launch

How to win in this role

Own it. Treat the club like it’s yours and follow things through.

Be present. Lead from the floor and notice the details members notice.

Coach in the moment. Praise, correct and teach.

Build belonging. Create a team people want to be part of.

Be organised. Keep your operation clear, structured and under control.

Communicate early. Raise issues with context and, where possible, a proposed solution.

If you’re a hands-on leader who takes pride in building great teams, maintaining high standards and creating exceptional customer experiences, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and help us build XtraClubs Canberra from the ground up.
