About the Prospect

Ready to grow your career in horticulture?





Bundaberg Regional Council is offering an exciting 12-month traineeship, giving you the opportunity to earn while you learn and gain practical, hands-on experience working across Council’s parks and natural areas.

As our Horticultural Trainee, you will work towards completing AHC20422 - Certificate II in Horticulture while receiving on-the-job training and experience as part of Council’s Parks and Natural Areas team.

Throughout the traineeship, you will develop practical horticultural skills while helping maintain parks and gardens, streetscapes, cemeteries, beaches and foreshores across the Bundaberg Region. You will gain experience in gardening, plant care, pruning, weeding and fertilising; operating horticultural equipment and machinery; maintaining irrigation and drainage systems; and assisting with the maintenance and improvement of park infrastructure.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a genuine interest in horticulture and landscaping and wants to develop practical skills for a career in the industry.

About You

To be successful in this traineeship, you will need to demonstrate:

- A genuine interest in horticulture and landscaping and enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills.
- The ability to undertake a range of labouring, gardening, cleaning, improvement and maintenance activities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in an outdoor or labouring environment.
- The ability to work under supervision and as part of a team.




- A current Class C Driver Licence or Learner Licence.
- Completion of a Senior High School Certificate and a current manual Class C Driver Licence would also be desirable.
