Brisbane

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Associate Architect or Associate with strong healthcare sector experience to join a leading Tier 1 architecture and design practice in Brisbane.

The role offers the opportunity to take a senior leadership position on a significant, large-scale health project currently progressing through Design Development, while also gaining exposure to a strong pipeline of major health and science work across Australia.

This position will suit a confident project leader who can operate at both a strategic and technical level, lead teams effectively and maintain strong oversight of complex project delivery.

As Senior Associate Architect, you will take responsibility for leading a key architectural workstream through the Design Development phase, working within a large multidisciplinary project team.

You will manage and mentor a dedicated team while coordinating closely with internal design leaders, consultants, clients and project stakeholders.

This is a hands on leadership role. You will be expected to provide direction, manage competing priorities and project risks, facilitate stakeholder engagement and ensure the architectural team continues to deliver high-quality outcomes within a demanding programme.

You will also work closely with Principals and senior leadership, providing clear project updates, identifying risks and contributing to key project decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading a major architectural workstream on a large and complex healthcare project.

- Managing, mentoring and supporting a team of approximately 4–5 people within a broader multidisciplinary project environment.

- Taking responsibility for project delivery through the Design Development phase.

- Planning and facilitating client, stakeholder and user-group meetings.

- Translating stakeholder requirements into coordinated architectural outcomes.

- Managing architectural documentation packages and consultant coordination.

- Reviewing project progress, identifying potential risks and escalating recommendations to senior leadership where required.

- Working closely with consultants and project partners to resolve technical and design issues.

- Maintaining quality and design integrity while working within compressed project programmes.

- Supporting programme,

resourcing and delivery planning across your workstream.

- Providing strategic project leadership while remaining comfortable working at a detailed, hands-on level when required.

- Contributing to the broader health portfolio and supporting the development of less experienced team members.

This role is for someone who is an experienced Architect Leader with a strong background in the healthcare sector and demonstrated experience leading complex architectural projects.

We are currently seeking someone who will be comfortable taking ownership of a significant workstream, managing teams and working with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires an experienced balanced leader who has worked across, design, technical delivery and stakeholder management, and who understands the level of coordination required on major healthcare projects.

Ideally, you will bring:

- Significant experience delivering healthcare projects within a leading architecture or design practice.

- Previous experience at Senior Associate, Associate, Project Leader or equivalent level.

- Demonstrated experience leading significant workstreams on large-scale and complex projects.

- Strong team leadership and mentoring capability.

- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including experience planning and facilitating user-group sessions.

- Strong experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.

- Proven capability managing documentation and project delivery through Design Development.

- An excellent understanding of healthcare project requirements and complex project environments.

- Advanced Revit capability — essential.

- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

- The ability to provide senior-level direction while remaining technically engaged in the project.

In the role as a Senior Associate, we require you to hold the minimum credentials:

- Healthcare sector experience

- Advanced Revit proficiency

- Experience leading large-scale architectural projects and teams

- Robust stakeholder engagement and user-group facilitation experience

- Demonstrated Design Development and documentation coordination experience

This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded Tier 1 architecture and design practice and take a senior role within an established healthcare team.

You will be joining a business with a significant pipeline of projects and access to specialist expertise across a national practice.

In the role as a Senior Associate, my client is offering the following benefits:

- Hybrid working and genuine work-from-home flexibility

- A strong focus on work-life balance

- Senior responsibility on a major, complex healthcare project

- Exposure to significant health and science projects nationally

- The opportunity to lead and mentor an established project team

- Access to experienced architects, designers and specialist healthcare professionals

- A collaborative and supportive studio environment

- Strong professional development and leadership opportunities

- Employee wellbeing initiatives and broader staff benefits

- Flexibility and autonomy in how you manage your work

This role would suit an experienced healthcare architect looking for a senior leadership opportunity within a respected Tier 1 practice, with the chance to make an immediate impact on a significant project while continuing to build their career within the health sector.
