About Belvidere Winery
Belvidere Winery is an established winery located in Langhorne Creek on South Australia's beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula. Since 2000, we have been producing quality wines and providing a broad range of wine industry services, including contract processing, packaged wine, bulk wine, export solutions and grape-to-bottle strategies.
We are currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team at our city office in Eastwood, SA 5063.
This is a hands-on accounting role suited to someone with solid accounting experience who is comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day finance functions, cashflow management, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations and compliance-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
As the Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records, supporting effective cashflow management and contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes and internal controls.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Take ownership of cashflow forecasting and assist management in planning and managing working capital.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and ensure transactions are recorded correctly and on a timely basis.
- Prepare and reconcile information for BAS, PAYG and Payroll Tax, working closely with our external accountant to ensure timely lodgement and compliance.
- Independently prepare and lodge relevant wine industry levies and funds, including applicable grape and wine industry levies.
- Process fortnightly payroll through Xero, including PAYG, superannuation, leave entitlements and responding to payroll-related employee enquiries.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations and investigate reconciliation discrepancies.
- Manage the accounts payable function, including supplier setup, invoice processing, supplier statement reconciliations and payment preparation.
- Prepare and propose creditor payment schedules based on cashflow requirements and payment priorities.
- Manage the accounts receivable function, including customer setup, invoicing, account reconciliations and preparation of customer statements.
- Proactively manage debtor collections and follow up overdue accounts.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
- Perform financial and operational reconciliations between VINTRACE, Xero and supporting records.
- Assist with month-end accounting and reconciliation activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency and internal controls.
- Provide accounting support and undertake ad hoc financial analysis and other tasks as required by the leadership team.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within an Australian commercial, industry or accounting practice environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience across general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations and cashflow management.
- Practical knowledge of Australian accounting and compliance requirements, including GST, BAS, PAYG, superannuation and payroll-related obligations.
- Strong hands-on experience with Xero and Microsoft Excel. MYOB experience would be advantageous.
- Experience with VINTRACE or the wine industry would be highly regarded but is not essential.
- Robust numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- The ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities and follow tasks through to completion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive, collaborative and practical approach to work.
- Mandarin language skills would be an advantage but are not essential.
