About the project
Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro is Australia’s first pumped hydro project in nearly 50 years, transforming a former gold mine into a large-scale underground power station. Delivered by McConnell Dowell and John Holland as a self-perform JV, the project provides hands-on exposure to complex mechanical systems within a landmark renewable energy development.

About the role
McConnell Dowell is seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to play a key role in maintaining and strengthening HSE performance across this landmark project.

Working closely with project leadership, supervisors, site teams and subcontractors, you’ll provide trusted HSE advice and help embed proactive safety practices across a complex, fast-paced environment. The role is predominantly dayshift, with potential to work nightshift every third swing to support changing project requirements.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a world-first renewable energy project while building your experience across a major self-perform civil and infrastructure development.

Key responsibilities

- Lead proactive HSE initiatives and strengthen safety culture across site.
- Provide expert HSE advice to project teams and subcontractors.
- Monitor compliance through inspections, audits and risk assessments.
- Support SWMS, JHAs, incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Deliver safety briefings, training and reporting to drive improvement.

What will you bring?

- Senior HSE experience across mechanical,



electrical and commissioning on major infrastructure projects.
- Robust knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and site safety systems.
- FIFO experience with strong stakeholder, risk and incident management skills.
- Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety; relevant experience also valued.
