About The Opportunity
Ready to start building your career in civil construction?
Bundaberg Regional Council is offering an exciting three-year traineeship based across the broader Bundaberg Region,
giving you the opportunity to earn while you learn and gain practical experience working in bridge construction and maintenance.
As our Civil Trainee, you will work towards completing a Certificate III in Civil Construction (Bridge Construction and Maintenance) while receiving hands-on training and experience as part of Council’s Civil team.
Throughout the traineeship, you will develop practical skills by assisting with bridge construction and maintenance and other civil works. You will learn to safely operate small to medium plant and equipment, use hand and power tools, undertake manual construction activities such as concrete works and excavation, and participate in workplace safety activities.
This is an excellent chance for someone who is keen to learn, enjoys practical and outdoor work, and wants to build the skills and experience needed for a career in the civil construction industry.
About You
You don’t need years of industry experience to apply. We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in civil construction, particularly bridge construction and maintenance, who is ready to learn and contribute as part of a team.
To be successful in this traineeship, you will need to demonstrate:
- The physical fitness and capability to undertake manual labour tasks.
- A willingness and ability to learn new skills, with a genuine interest in the civil construction industry and bridge works.
- Sound interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people.
- A willingness and ability to learn and follow Council work practices, policies and procedures,
including requirements relating to Work Health and Safety, environmental management and traffic control.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to achieving team outcomes.
- An unrestricted Class 'C' Driver's Licence is desirable
- A current Construction Industry General Safety Induction Card (White Card) is highly desired
