What You’ll Do
• Pipeline development: Build test, deploy and optimise production grade data pipelines to ingest and transform data from internal and external sources (Azure, Databricks, dbt)
• Data sourcing and profiling: Profile new and existing data source, assess data quality and structure, work with Data Platform Engineering Lead to determine suitable ingestion and transformation pattern
• Data Modelling: Develop and maintain data models within the established Lakehouse architecture, applying agreed design patterns and modelling conventions.
• Delivery Execution: Deliver assigned engineering tasks to agreed scope, estimates and acceptance criteria, escalating dependencies, risks and blockers to the Data Platform Engineering Lead early.
• Operational Support: Monitor production pipelines, respond to alerts and data quality issues,
root cause analysis and implement fixes and maintain issues log.
• Platform Maintenance: Contribute to routine platform maintenance, release activities and the transition of new solutions into business-as-usual support.
• Standards and Code Quality: Apply established engineering standards, design patterns, version control (Git), automated testing and CI/CD practices in all delivery work.
• Technical Documentation: Write and update technical documentation for data engineering assets
About You
· 3+ years’ hands-on commercial experience in data engineering within a cloud data environment.
· Demonstrated experience building and maintaining data workloads, ideally using Databricks.
· Strong SQL programming skills, including experience developing optimised transformation logic.
· Hands-on experience with Python and/or PySpark for data transformation and automation.
· Experience developing data models for analytics and reporting, including an understanding of dimensional modelling.
· Working knowledge of Git, branching workflows and pull request processes.
· Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills,
with the ability to translate business requirements into practical data solutions.
· Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information to a range of audiences.
