Proactive health

Wodonga

Proactive Health is a national ecosystem of over 40 allied health businesses across 350+ locations in Australia. We bring independent clinic owners together under a shared commitment to clinical excellence, giving them the governance, development infrastructure and operational support of a large network while keeping the personalised, community-driven care that smaller practices do so well.

Our clinics run as genuine multidisciplinary teams. Exercise physiologists work alongside physiotherapists, podiatrists, occupational therapists, dietitians and social workers, coordinating care and learning from each other day to day.

We service clients across DVA, Medicare (EPC), NDIS, Home Care Packages, private health and workers’ compensation — one of the most diverse and clinically rich caseloads an EP can have.

About this clinic — Wodonga

Here’s the shape of it. This is a part time role to start — two to three days a week — with a strong chance it builds to more days as the caseload grows. You’ll work across two settings: a local medical centre we’ve partnered with, and the gym. We’re after an experienced EP who’s comfortable running their own caseload and working independently. Someone we can trust with real autonomy from day one, rather than a clinician who needs close supervision to find their feet.

And you won’t be starting cold. The partnered medical centre is already sending around sixteen referrals a week — over six hours of work — and a positive share of those are Medicare EPC, with DVA in the mix and growing. It’s a warm base to build on from day one.

Wodonga sits on the Murray River in north-east Victoria, twinned with Albury just over the New South Wales border. Together they make one of the largest inland regional centres in the country, home to around 90,000 people and still growing. You’re halfway between Melbourne and Sydney on the Hume, with Albury airport barely fifteen minutes away and direct flights to both cities, and a straight run of about three hours down to Melbourne when you want it.

In winter the Victorian High Country and the alpine snowfields are on your doorstep; year round it’s the Murray, Lake Hume, and the Beechworth and Rutherglen wine country. It’s a growing centre, and that growth drives steady, rising demand for allied health.

Your caseload will be genuinely varied — Medicare EPC referrals for conditions like diabetes, COPD and cardiovascular disease, DVA veterans, NDIS participants with physical and psychosocial disabilities, and aged care clients working to stay independent at home. A mix of veterans, retirees and young families keeps a steady stream of chronic disease and musculoskeletal work coming through the door.

The support’s there when you want it — peer review, CPD, a network of EPs to lean on — without anyone looking over your shoulder.

Tom Kearney is a great guy and leads the team, who is really passionate about building the right culture.

And the lifestyle stacks up. Housing sits well below the metro median, the High Country and the river are right there for weekends, and you’re close enough to Melbourne to have the best of both. For an experienced EP who wants autonomy, a growing caseload and room to shape a role as it builds, this one’s worth a look.

Why this opportunity stands out

You’ll work across a broad spectrum of funding streams and patient demographics, delivering individualised, evidence-based exercise programs covering chronic conditions, post-surgical rehabilitation, functional capacity building and more. It’s the kind of varied, growing caseload that keeps experienced clinicians engaged.

DVA is our primary funding stream group-wide, so there’s meaningful work supporting veterans with complex needs, alongside cases funded through Medicare, NDIS, Home Care Packages, workers’ compensation and private sources.

You’ll have the independence to run it your way, with a national network behind you.

A typical week involves initial assessments, home and community visits, and individual or small group sessions built around tailored interventions that move the needle for clients. You’ll coordinate with a multidisciplinary team — physiotherapists, OTs and others — so care stays joined up, while owning your own diary and caseload.

Day to day, you’ll be:

- Conducting comprehensive assessments incorporating functional testing and health screening
- Designing and implementing tailored exercise programs across multiple settings
- Managing a diverse caseload spanning DVA, Medicare (EPC), NDIS, Home Care Packages, workers’ compensation and private clients
- Delivering individual and group exercise sessions suited to varied clinical needs
- Working closely with other allied health professionals and GPs to keep care comprehensive
- Monitoring client progress and adjusting programs to hit clinical goals
- Maintaining detailed, compliant clinical documentation
- Educating clients on lifestyle changes and self-management strategies

Requirements

- Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with full ESSA accreditation

- Eligible for Medicare, DVA and NDIS provider numbers
- Comfortable working across a broad, varied regional caseload
- Keen to grow — whether you’re early in your career or well established
- Warm, client-first, and genuinely good with people

Benefits

- Real autonomy — your caseload, your diary, your way

- The backing of a national network behind a close, local team — peer review, CPD and EPs to lean on
- A growing caseload with room to shape the role as it builds
- Graduate and leadership programs, plus genuine pathways to ownership
- Regional lifestyle — affordable, on the river, close to the snow, easy access to Melbourne
