About the Role

At Alcoa, rehabilitation is about more than restoring landscapes. It is about continuously improving the way we plan, govern, deliver and integrate rehabilitation practices to achieve consistent, evidence-based outcomes across our operations.

We are seeking an experienced environmental leader for the newly created role of Principal - Rehabilitation Improvement. This role will lead a portfolio of strategic rehabilitation improvement initiatives, ensuring opportunities are identified, prioritised, governed and embedded into operational practice across our operations. The position focuses on translating rehabilitation strategy, research, monitoring outcomes and operational learnings into practical changes that improve rehabilitation performance and support achievement of long-term closure objectives.

Reporting to the Regional Environment Manager - Rehabilitation, you will provide regional leadership across rehabilitation standards, improvement programs, remediation planning, governance and management of change. You will work across functions to ensure improvement initiatives move beyond standalone studies and are successfully integrated into standards, procedures, specifications and execution practices.

Working closely with Rehabilitation Performance, WA Mining, Closure, Planning, Approvals, Research, GIS and operational teams, you will provide the coordination and governance necessary to align strategy, science and operational delivery. A key focus of the role is ensuring rehabilitation improvements are practical, scalable and consistently adopted across the business.





This is a unique opportunity to influence the future direction of rehabilitation across Alcoa's Australian operations. You will drive continuous improvement, strengthen governance, facilitate cross-functional alignment and help ensure rehabilitation outcomes are supported by robust standards, evidence-based decision making and effective operational integration.

The role can be based in Perth, or the WA Mining Hub in Pinjarra, with regular collaboration across Alcoa's Australian operations.

Key responsibilities include:

- Lead and manage a portfolio of rehabilitation improvement initiatives, ensuring priorities are aligned with rehabilitation strategy, closure objectives and business needs.

- Drive the development, governance and continuous improvement of rehabilitation standards, procedures and management systems.

- Establish and coordinate effective management of change processes to ensure improvements are embedded into business-as-usual operations.

- Lead investigations into rehabilitation performance challenges, facilitating evidence-based remediation planning and practical solution development.

- Coordinate cross-functional input across rehabilitation, mining, closure, planning, approvals, research and technical specialists to support robust decision making and implementation.

- Prepare governance and decision-support materials, identify strategic risks and opportunities, and support regional rehabilitation governance forums.

What you can bring to the role

- Significant experience in mine rehabilitation, mine closure, environmental management or related disciplines.

- Proven ability to lead cross-functional improvement and remediation programs.

- Experience developing rehabilitation standards, governance processes and operational improvements.

- Strong analytical skills, with experience investigating performance issues and developing practical solutions.

- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, mine rehabilitation, ecology, engineering or a related field.
