- Paying $60.26 + super
- Can be located in either Richmond VIC or Surry Hills NSW
- 31st December 2026 end date with potential for extension

Please note candidates for this role can be VIC or NSW based, working from the Surry Hills NSW or Richmond VIC office locations

About the Role

Our client is a well known federal government organisation based in Richmond VIC and Surry Hills NSW. They are currently seeking an APS6 Finance Officer to come in and join them on a temp contract prospect until 31st December 2026.

Requirements for this role include:

- Australian Citizenship (Federal Government requirement)

- Strong background in managing departmental cost centres, conducting variance analysis against forecasts, handling accruals, and preparing accurate financial reports.

- Experience coordinating quality audits, overseeing error/integrity reporting, and operating within statutory delegations and legislative frameworks.

- Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external partners, address ministerial submissions, and author complex business cases and corporate documents.

Key responsibilities include:

- Financial Management & Forecasting: Perform detailed financial administration, variance analysis against budgets, forecasting, and accruals management across division cost centres and projects.
- Strategic Planning & Reporting: Analyze and interpret statistical reports to inform strategic planning, guide work plans, and develop business cases and corporate documentation.
- Cost Estimation & Feasibility Analysis:



Coordinate cost estimates for system change requests and conduct quality assurance on cost assumptions, feasibility studies, and justifications.
- Quality Assurance & Auditing: Oversee quality assurance processes, utilize integrity and error reporting, and coordinate quality audits to maintain operational standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Partner with internal and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues, deliver project outcomes on time, and address ministerial submissions.
- Written Communication & Correspondence: Draft a wide range of official written materials, including financial reports, executive briefs, corporate documentation, and formal correspondence.
- Governance & Legislative Compliance: Exercise appropriate financial and operational delegations in strict accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and administrative guidelines.
