Perth
At Future Focus, we promote practitioners into leadership. We hire subject matter experts, not generic people managers; because you cannot lead a Support Coordination team if you have never done the work yourself.
Future Focus Support Coordination is a growing national provider, and one of the largest independent Support Coordination providers in Australia. Our reputation was hard fought, earned by dedicated practitioners who secured outcomes for participants and their families.
We are seeking a Business Unit Manager to lead our growing Perth team. Full time, but negotiable for the right person. This is a hybrid role with the majority of your week worked from home. You'll use our Perth office for team meetings, supervision, participant meetings and community engagement.
About the role
Reporting to the Directors, you hold primary responsibility for the delivery, growth and performance of Support Coordination across your region.
You will lead, coach and develop a team of Support Coordinators and Specialist Support Coordinators. Monthly administrative supervision, file audits and pulse checks, probation and six-monthly reviews, and performance conversations where they're needed. You'll set quarterly growth goals with the Directors and report against them, keeping each team member on track to their weekly revenue target.
You'll also own the referral and marketing strategy for Perth, host or coordinate one significant event each quarter, represent us at industry events, and sit on the national Leadership Team. Alongside this you'll hold a small caseload of five or more participants, primarily Level 3, so your practice knowledge stays current.
You won't carry clinical risk alone
Every Future Focus team is led by two people at the same level:
a Business Unit Manager and a Clinical Lead. You own workflow, capability, referrals, KPIs and administrative supervision. Your Clinical Lead owns the participant-facing clinical work — complex case consultation, clinical supervision, risk review and crisis response.
Most providers ask one manager to be the business owner, the clinical supervisor and the crisis responder, then wonder why they burn out. We split it.
We appoint at two levels
This is a substantial role leading a large team of skilled, autonomous professionals. This is a different discipline from team leadership. If you bring the Support Coordination expertise and some leadership experience but haven't yet managed a team of this size, we'll appoint you as Business Unit Manager in Training for approximately six months, with structured mentoring from the Directors and an experienced Business Unit Manager. If you already have that management experience, we'll appoint you directly.
Tell us in your cover letter which you think applies. We'd rather have that conversation than have you screen yourself out.
Please only apply if you hold:
- Substantial hands-on experience delivering Support Coordination to NDIS participants (non-negotiable, and closely assessed at interview)
- Demonstrated experience leading, supervising or developing others
- Current,
applied knowledge of NDIS funding principles, the Price Guide, the NDIS Rules and 'reasonable and necessary' supports
- Extensive knowledge of disability, mainstream and community services
- Confidence working to commercial targets and leading a team to meet theirs
You must also:
- Live in Perth or surrounding suburbs
- Hold a valid Driver's Licence and have access to a reliable vehicle
- Pass probity checks: International Police Check if relevant, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check
Advantageous:
- Previous Business Unit Manager, Team Leader or Service Manager experience
- Previous Specialist Support Coordination experience
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Health Science, Case Management, Mental Health/Psychology or other Allied Health discipline
- Experience in business development or growing referral relationships
Advantages and perks
- Hybrid role — majority of the week from home
- Negotiable hours for the right person
- A dedicated Clinical Lead working alongside you
- Monthly Clinical and Administrative Supervision
- National Conference attendance and annual PD budget
- Salary above award rate, plus a generous staff incentive program
- Mobile phone and Surface Pro supplied
- Prestigious office for team and participant interactions
- Yearly all-org trip away
