About the Opportunity

Ready to grow your career in wildlife and exhibited animal care?





Bundaberg Regional Council is offering an exciting 24-month traineeship, giving you the opportunity to earn while you learn and gain practical, hands-on experience working in the Alexandra Park Zoo.

As our Zoo Trainee, you will work towards completing ACM30321 Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care while receiving on-the-job training and experience.

Throughout the traineeship, you will develop practical zoo keeping skills while contributing to the care and wellbeing of the Zoo's animal collection. You will gain hands-on experience in animal husbandry, food preparation and nutrition, exhibit maintenance, enrichment activities, animal welfare practices, and supporting educational programs and visitor experiences. You will also assist with horticultural and maintenance activities within and around animal enclosures, helping to create safe, engaging and well-maintained habitats.

About You

To be successful in this traineeship, you will need to demonstrate:

- A genuine passion for wildlife, conservation, animal welfare and education.
- A commitment to completing a Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care, and participating fully in formal training requirements
- Strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills.




- The ability to work under supervision and as part of a team.
- Completion of a Senior High School Certificate and a current manual Class C Driver Licence would also be desirable.
