Company Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join a well-established and globally connected organisation operating within the trading and distribution sector. Working as part of a cooperative and hands-on finance team, this role offers broad exposure across financial accounting, treasury, trade finance, inventory reporting, payroll and compliance functions.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the timely and accurate delivery of core finance activities. The position offers a broad scope, combining traditional accounting responsibilities with exposure to treasury operations, trade finance, inventory accounting, payroll support and compliance reporting.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders, overseas finance teams, banking partners and external advisors, supporting strong financial controls and contributing to continuous process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and maintain bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
- Assist with month-end processes including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support inventory accounting activities, stock adjustments and inventory reporting.
- Coordinate treasury administration, foreign exchange documentation and trade finance activities.
- Prepare and process letters of credit and maintain supporting banking records.
- Assist with accounts payable processing, supplier payments and statement reconciliations.
- Support payroll processing and employee entitlement administration.
- Assist with BAS preparation,



FBT reporting and statutory compliance requirements.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and resolve variances with local and international stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate financial records across ERP systems and reporting platforms.
- Support audit processes and contribute to strengthening internal controls.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities across finance operations.
- Provide cross-functional support across the wider finance team.

The Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer or similar accounting position.
- Experience with reconciliations, month-end reporting and financial administration.
- Exposure to accounts payable, payroll, treasury, inventory accounting or tax compliance will be highly regarded.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with ERP systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build relationships across a range of stakeholders.
- A proactive and collaborative approach, combined with strong accountability.
- Accounting qualifications or studies in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Progression towards or an interest in pursuing CA/CPA qualifications will be highly regarded.
