Busy Irish bar in St Kilda, looking for a Sous chef to make that next step in their career for this prime location on Acland in St Kilda. Jimmy O Neill's is a modern twist on the Irish pub mixing some up-to-date food with some of the more traditional Irish Fare. The emphasis will be on fresh food & local produce. We are a busy venue with room for expansion.

Job tasks and responsibilities

The successful candidate would need to demonstrate the following ;
Passionate about food & a positive knowledge of local food trends as well as some knowledge of traditional Irish/European cuisine
Competency in menu writing & creation
Valuable knowledge of kitchen hygiene & HACCP requirements
Good knowledge of kitchen budgeting

Skills and experience

We also operate a catering business so you may be required to work offsite at large events if required.



The following daily tasks must also be done.
Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients
Social media content
Inform wait staff about daily specials
Ensure appealing plate presentation
Supervise Cooks and assist as needed
Slightly modify recipes to meet customers' needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)
Monitor food stock and place orders
Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
