Mills Recruitment
Perth
A well-established, leading Perth law firm is looking for a corporate and commercial lawyer to join a team doing genuinely different work: advising First Nations organisations, community-controlled corporations and not-for-profits across WA.
If you're around 1 to 3 years post-admission and want your day-to-day legal work to have real impact beyond the transaction, this is worth a look.
What you'll be doing
Advising on governance, compliance and corporate structuring for a client base that includes prescribed bodies corporate, Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and community benefit trusts
Getting hands-on with rule book and constitution reviews, trust deeds, and directors' duties
Working directly with the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act, a specialist area few junior lawyers get exposure to
Drafting, negotiating and advising across a broad spread of commercial agreements
Building relationships as a trusted advisor, not just a service provider
What you'll bring
1 to 3 years' PQE in corporate and commercial front-end work
Genuine interest in First Nations advancement and not-for-profit/charity law
Solid attention to detail and the organisational skills to juggle competing deadlines
A team-oriented streak and willingness to learn a specialist area of law
Why this firm
This is one of WA's largest firms, decision-makers all based locally, with a genuinely collaborative culture rather than a big-firm hierarchy.
You'll work across practice groups, get real support for career development, and have the chance to get involved in Reconciliation Action Plan and Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. Add paid parental leave, an extra birthday leave day, a free onsite gym, and regular team social events.
