About the role:
Western Health seeks two suitably qualified applicants for the **** Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Clinical Research Fellow position.
The position would be ideally suited to an RACP trainee who has passed the FRACP written and clinical examinations and is hoping to pursue a career in Gastroenterology.
Alternatively, it would be suited to a gastroenterology advanced trainee wishing to focus on research.
Key responsibilities:
Participate actively in Gastroenterology research activities conducted within Western Health.
Assist with the preparation, submission, and management of Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) applications and regulatory documentation.
Support the conduct of clinical trials, including screening, recruitment, and clinical review of patients enrolled in studies.
Work closely with Gastroenterology Research Nurses to provide medical and clinical support for ongoing research projects.
Contribute to data acquisition, database management, and maintenance of study records abstracts, reports, and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
Participate in research across a range of gastroenterology subspecialties including viral hepatitis, chronic liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and endoscopy.
Participate in limited clinical duties within Gastroenterology inpatient wards and outpatient clinics across the Footscray and Sunshine campuses.
Work under the supervision and support of the Head of Unit or other Consultant to further develop general clinical and decision-making skills
Perform unit duties as delegated by the Unit Head or other Consultant in accordance with Western Health policies and procedures and relevant legislation

About you:
A medical qualification recognised in Victoria, Australia.
Current medical registration.




Clinical competence as required for level of position.
