About the role:
Join our vibrant General Paediatric service at Western Health.
We provide comprehensive, compassionate care to the multicultural paediatric population of Western Melbourne.
Paediatricians in our service diagnose and manage a broad array of paediatric health issues across inpatient and outpatient services.
There are ample opportunities for peer review and discussion, and the unit has a supportive and collegiate culture.
The General Paediatrician will provide clinical support and supervision of junior medical staff on the inpatient ward and in the general acute medical clinics.
The consultant clinics at Western Health manage a range of complex general and developmental patients and there are opportunities to work with our subspecialist colleagues, allied health staff, and mental health services to provide comprehensive care to children locally.
Keyresponsibilities:
Provide high-quality clinical care to paediatric patients on the inpatient wards, including participation in the on-call rosters across Sunshine and Bacchus Marsh sites
Provide outpatient care for children in general medical and developmental clinics, with comprehensive documentation and timely correspondence to referrers
Supervise junior medical staff and provide consultation to support safe clinical care
Participate in quality and safety activities and improvement projects
Aboutyou:
You will have recognised qualifications as a General Paediatrician with experience in managing patients across general, developmental, and behavioural paediatric medicine.
You will have recent acute inpatient experience, ideally at Consultant level.




You will contribute to a positive organisational culture and role model professionalism with respect to patient dignity and compassion, effective communication, and ethical clinical care.
You will actively participate in teaching and supervision of Junior Medical Staff and Medical Students.
